A brincadeira e o género em jardim-de-infância

Ao estudar “A brincadeira e o género em jardim-de-infância”, pretende-se averiguar de que forma as conceções de género (feminino e masculino) das crianças influenciam a sua interação com os pares, a escolha das suas brincadeiras e a preferência por determinados brinquedos. O estudo foi realizado num grupo com dezanove crianças, dos três aos cinco anos de idade. Este grupo é bastante equilibrado relativamente ao sexo das crianças, sendo que existem dez do sexo feminino e nove do sexo masculino. Neste grupo existem duas crianças do sexo masculino que brincam, com regularidade, com os vestidos na área da casa - Maléfica e Mãe dos Botões (nomes fictícios). Também existe uma menina que prefere brincar com os meninos mais velhos do grupo, brincando nas mesmas áreas que eles - Afonso (nome fictício). Foram realizadas várias atividades com as crianças. Perguntou-se às crianças que nomes fictícios gostariam de ter, fizeram-se inquéritos por entrevista sobre o que estas pensam de algumas imagens não estereotipadas de brincadeiras (e.g. menina a jogar à bola), sobre os seus brinquedos preferidos, fez-se o registo fotográfico sobre com que crianças gostavam mais de brincar, realizou-se uma atividade de recorte e colagem sobre que brinquedos pensam ser para meninas, meninos e para ambos e uma discussão e reflexão sobre que atividades meninos/homens e meninas/mulheres podem fazer. Também se realizou um inquérito por questionário aos familiares das crianças, sobre os brinquedos e brincadeiras preferidas do/a seu/sua filho/a e quais os brinquedos e brincadeiras que estes consideram apropriados a cada sexo. Através da análise dos resultados qualitativos obtidos, pode-se afirmar que os meninos Maléfica e Mãe dos Botões preferem o que é socialmente “de menina” e que a menina Afonso prefere o que é “de menino”. Há uma criança do grupo, ToyStory (sexo masculino), que faz uma grande distinção entre ambos os sexos.

ABSTRACT By studying “Play and gender at kindergarten” is intended to investigate how children’s gender conceptions (female and male) influence their interaction with peers, the choice of their plays and how they prefer certain toys. The study was conducted in a group of nineteen children, aged three to five. This group is well balanced with regard to the sex, having ten female and nine male. In this group there are two male children playing on a regular basis with the dresses in the house area - Maléfica and Mãe dos Botões (fictitious names). There is also a girl who prefers to play with the older boys in the group, playing in the same area as them - Afonso (fictitious name). Various activities were held with the children. They were asked about their preferable fictitious names; interviews about what they think of some non-stereotyped images of games (i.g. girls playing football), and about their favorite toys, were made. We made up a photographic registration about what were their favorite’s plays; there was a crop and collage activity on toys that they thought were made for girls, boys and both. We also created a discussion and reflection on activities that boys/men and girls/women can do. We conducted a questionnaire survey to the families on the preferred toys and games of his/her child and which toys and games they consider appropriate to each sex. Through the analysis of qualitative results, it can be said that boys Maléfica and Mãe dos Botões prefer what is socially "girly" and that the girl Afonso prefers what is consider for boys. There is a child in the group, a boy, ToyStory (fictitious name), that makes a big distinction between male and female.
