Violência no namoro e consumos de substâncias em jovens estudantes universitários

A violência no namoro assume-se como uma problemática social dos dias de hoje e a qual interfere com a vida de muitos jovens. De igual modo, é sabido que o consumo de substâncias entre estudantes universitários também é uma realidade atual. Face a estas evidências, impõe-se a necessidade de analisar a relação entre os consumos e a violência no namoro, e que de resto tem sido já documentada por diversos estudos internacionais. Face à ausência de estudos nacionais que procurem analisar esta relação, o presente estudo insurge-se para colmatar esta lacuna e assim perceber qual a relação entre a violência ocorrida nas relações de intimidade juvenis e os consumos. Para tal, foi administrado o Questionário sobre Vivências Amorosas Abusivas e Consumos - QVAC, através da plataforma online – Google Docs, a uma amostra de 376 jovens universitários (68.9% do sexo feminino e 30.9% do sexo masculino), com uma média de idades de 21.93 (D.P.= 2.51), que admitiram estar ou já terem estado envolvidos numa relação amorosa. Os resultados revelaram que no conjunto dos participantes que referiram estar envolvidos em relações amorosas, 24.5% revelou já ter sofrido algum tipo de abuso e 19.4% admitiu ter perpetrado algum tipo de violência. No que diz respeito aos consumos de substâncias, 34.8% admitiu já ter consumido algum tipo de droga pelo menos uma vez na vida. As análises de associação efetuadas não demonstraram ser estatisticamente significativas. Ainda que os resultados obtidos no presente estudo não nos permitam afirmar que exista algum tipo de relação entre o consumo de drogas e a violência no namoro, foram apurados níveis de prevalência da violência e de consumos algo alarmantes e que denunciam a necessidade de se continuar a prevenção quer deste tipo de abuso, quer dos consumos junto dos jovens universitários, conhecidos que são os seus efeitos nefastos a diferentes níveis.

Is is assumed that the dating violence is a social issue of today that interferes with the lives of many young people. Similarly, it is known that substance use among college students is also a present reality. In face of this evidences, there is a need to analyze the relationship between consumption and dating violence, which has already been documented by several international studies. In the absence of national studies that seek to analyze this situation, the present study pretends to bridge this gap and thus realize the relation between the violence in juvenile intimate relationships and consumption. For such purpose, it was administered the Questionnaire on Experiences Loving Abusive and Consumption – QVAC through the online platform Google Docs, to a sample of 376 university students (68.9% female and 30.9% male) with a mean age of 21.93 (SD = 2.51), who admitted to being or have already been involved in a relationship. The results revealed that in the group of participants who admitted to being involved in a romantic relationship, 24.5% admitted to have suffered some sort of abuse and 19.4% revealed to have adopted/perpetrated some kind of violence. With regard to the consumption of substances, 34.8% admitted having used some kind of substance at least once in the lifetime. The association analyses performed have not shown to be statistically significant. Although the results obtained in this study do not allow us to state that there is some kind of relationship between the drug abuse and dating violence, the levels of dating of present violence and consumption found are alarming and denounce the need to continue the prevention on this type of abuse and on the consumption among university students, since the damage effects at different levels are quite well known.
