A cátedra e a tribuna : sociologia, política e língua em Gilberto Freyre

Rastreia os pontos de contato e de afastamento entre duas atividades fundamentais na trajetória de Gilberto Freyre. Destas, uma é trabalho de praticamente toda a vida - a sociologia e a antropologia. A outra é atividade bissexta - a atuação parlamentar no período 1946/1950. Por um lado, tem-se que o trabalho do cientista é moroso e altamente reflexivo. A atividade parlamentar, ao contrário, é nervosa e na maioria das vezes perpassada dos sentimentos da hora. A linguagem empregada e os fins a que se destinam, aparentemente, são igualmente diversos. Verifica a pertinência ou não desses estereótipos, ou, ao contrário, se os pronunciamentos do deputado e a obra do acadêmico confluem em um ou mais aspectos.

The work traces the points of contact and difference between two fundamental activities in the path of Gilberto Freyre. Of these, one is the work of virtually all life - the sociology and anthropology. The other activity is leap - the parliamentary action in the period 1946/1950. On the one hand, it has to be the work of the scientist is lengthy and highly reflective. The parliamentary activity, in contrast, is nervous and mostly pervaded the feelings of the hour. The language used and the purposes for which they are intended, apparently, are equally diverse. This study aims to assess the relevance or not these stereotypes, or, conversely, if the statements of Mr and work of academic converge in one or more aspects.
