A iniciativa popular das leis

Analisa a iniciativa popular no processo legislativo federal. O foco de estudo é a iniciativa legislativa prevista no art. 61 da Constituição brasileira. São explanadas as características e as condições para a participação da sociedade na elaboração legislativa federal, bem como os resultados de pesquisa sobre o exercício desse instituto junto à Câmara dos Deputados do Brasil.

This article analyzes direct public participation in the legislative process, in Brazil. The focus of this study is the legislative initiative granted to society at large by Article 61 of the Brazilian Constitution. It probes the characteristics and the conditions for the participation of civil society in the federal legislative process. It also explains the results of survey on the actual use of such public initiative by brazilian society in Brazil¿s Chamber of Deputies.
