Studies of ZrO2 films prepared by d.c. reactive magnetron sputtering are described. The effects of substrate temperature on the packing density, refractive index, extinction coefficient and crystallinity phase have been investigated in the temperature range 25–450 °C. The refractive index varied from 1.84 to 1.95 and extinction coefficient from 2 × 10−3 to 9.6 × 10−3. This was explained on the basis of an increase in packing density from 0.686 to 0.813. The change in packing density has been attributed to a decrease in the oxygen condensation at higher temperatures. Annealing results in a decrease in refractive index and increase in extinction coefficient. The films deposited at 150 °C showed a monoclinic phase which transforms to a tetragonal phase at higher substrate temperatures.

The preponderance of 3'-5' phosphodiester links in nucleic acids is well known. Albeit less prevalent, the 2'-5' links are specifically utilised in the formation of 'lariat' in group II introns and in the msDNA-RNA junction in myxobacterium. As a sequel to our earlier study on cytidylyl-2',5'-adenosine we have now obtained the crystal structure of adenylyl-2',5'-adenosine (A2'p5'A) at atomic resolution. This dinucleoside monophosphate crystallizes in the orthorhombic space group P2(1)2(1)2(1) with a = 7.956(3) A, b = 12.212(3) A and c = 36.654(3) A. CuK alpha intensity data were collected on a diffractometer. The structure was sloved by direct methods and refined by full matrix least squares methods to R = 10.8%. The 2' terminal adenine is in the commonly observed anti (chi 2 = 161 degrees) conformation and the 5' terminal base has a syn (chi 1 = 55 degrees) conformation more often seen in purine nucleotides. A noteworthy feature of A2'p5'A is the intranucleotide hydrogen bond between N3 and O5' atoms of the 5' adenine base. The two furanose rings in A2'p5'A show different conformations - C2' endo, C3' endo puckering for the 5' and 2' ends respectively. In this structure too there is a stacking of the purine base on the ribose O4' just as in other 2'-5' dinucleoside structures, a feature characteristically seen in the left handed Z DNA. In having syn, anti conformation about the glycosyl bonds, C2' endo, C3' endo mixed sugar puckering and N3-O5' intramolecular hydrogen bond A2'p5'A resembles its 3'-5' analogue and several other 2'-5' dinucleoside monophosphate structures solved so far. Striking similarities between the 2'-5' dinucleoside monophosphate structures suggest that the conformation of the 5'-end nucleoside dictates the conformation of the 2' end nucleoside. Also, the 2'-5' dimers do not favour formation of miniature classical double helical structures like the 3'-5' dimers. It is conceivable, 2-5(A) could be using the stereochemical features of A2'p5'A which accounts for its higher activity.

The A ring may be described as in a l a,2flhalf- chair conformation or a l a-sofa conformation. The B and C rings adopt normal chair conformations and the D ring has a 14a-envelope conforma tion. The molecules are held together by a hydrogen bond [0(3)...0(7)= 2.767 A].

Edge-sharing bioctahedral (ESBO) complexes [Ru-2(OMe)(O2CC6H4-p-X)3(1-MeIm)(4)](ClO4)2 (X = OMe (1a), Me (1b)) and [Ru-2(O2CC6H4-P-X)(4)(1-MeIm)(4)](ClO4)(2) (X = OMe (2a), Me (2b)) are prepared by reacting Ru2Cl(O(2)CR)(4) with 1-methylimidazole (1-MeIm) in methanol followed by treatment with NaClO4. Complex 2a and the PF6- salt (1a') of 1a have been structurally characterized. Crystal data for 1a.1.5MeCN. 0.5Et(2)O: triclinic, P (1) over bar, a = 13.125(2) Angstrom, b = 15.529(3) Angstrom, c 17.314(5) Angstrom, a; 67.03(2)degrees, beta 68.05(2)degrees, gamma = 81.38(1)degrees, V 3014(1) Angstrom(3), Z = 2. Crystal data for 2a: triclinic, P (1) over bar, a 8.950(1) Angstrom, b = 12.089(3) Angstrom, c = 13.735(3) Angstrom, alpha 81.09(2)degrees, beta = 72.27(1)degrees, gamma = 83.15(2)degrees, V = 1394(1) Angstrom(3), Z = 1. The complexes consist of a diruthenium(III) unit held by two monoatomic and two three-atom bridging ligands. The 1-MeIm ligands are at the terminal sites of the [Ru-2(mu-L)(eta(1):mu-O(2)CR)(eta(1):eta(1):mu-O(2)CR)(2)](2+) core having a Ru-Ru single bond (L = OMe or eta(1)-O(2)CR). The Ru-Ru distance and the Ru-O-Ru angle in the core of 1a' and 2a are 2.49 Angstrom and similar to 76 degrees. The complexes undergo one-electron oxidation and reduction processes in MeCN-0.1 M TBAP to form mixed-valence diruthenium species with Ru-Ru bonds of orders 1.5 and 0.5, respectively.

The synthesis, X-ray crystal structure, and magnetic properties of an angular trinuclear copper(II) complex [Cu3(O2CMC)4(bpy)3(H2O)](PF6)2 (1), obtained from a reaction of Cu2(O2CMe)4(H2O)2 With 2,2'-bipyridine (bpy) and NH4PF6 in ethanol, are reported. Complex 1 crystallizes in triclinic space group P1BAR with a = 11.529(1) angstrom, b = 12.121(2) angstrom, c = 17.153(2) angstrom, alpha = 82.01(1)-degrees, beta = 79.42(1)-degrees, gamma = 89.62(1)-degrees, and Z = 2. A total of 6928 data with I > 2.5sigma(I) were refined to R = 0.0441 and R(w) = 0.0557. The structure consists of a trinuclear core bridged by four acetate ligands showing different bonding modes. The coordination geometry at each copper is distorted square-pyramidal with a CuN2O2...O chromophore. The Cu...Cu distances are 3.198(1) angstrom, 4.568(1) angstrom, and 6.277(1) angstrom. There are two monoatomic acetate bridges showing Cu-O-Cu angles of 93.1(1) and 97.5(1)-degrees. Magnetic studies in the temperature range 39-297 K show the presence of a strong ferromagnetically coupled dicopper(II) unit (2J = +158 cm-1) and an essentially isolated copper(II) center (2J' = -0.4 cm-1) in 1. The EPR spectra display an axial spectrum giving g(parallel-to) = 2.28 (A(parallel-to) = 160 X 10(-4) cm-1) and g(perpendicular-to) = 2.06 (A(perpendicular-to) = 12 X 10(-4) cm-1) for the normal copper and two intense isotropic signals with g values 2.70 and 1.74 for the strongly coupled copper pair. The structural features of 1 compare well with the first generation models for ascorbate oxidase.

The title compound is photostable in the crystalline state and lattice-energy calculations have been employed to rationalize the photobehaviour. The well-known beta-steering ability of the chloro group is not operative in this system as there are no Cl...Cl interactions in the crystal lattice. All five benzylidene-DL-piperitone structures so far studied are alpha-packed and the molecular topology appears to be a deciding factor even in the presence of steering groups.

C17H17N3O2, M(r) = 295.34, orthorhombic, P2(1)2(1)2(1), a = 7.659 (1), b = 12.741 (1), c = 15.095 (1) angstrom, V = 1473.19 (2) angstrom 3, Z = 4, D(m) = 1.33, D(x) = 1.32 Mg m-3, lambda(Cu K-alpha) = 1.5418 angstrom, mu = 0.68 mm-1, F(000) = 624, T = 295 K, R = 0.031 for 1549 unique observed reflections with I > 2.5-sigma(I). The seven-membered heterocyclic ring adopts a boat conformation flattened at the nitroso end of the ring. The substituent phenyl rings occupy pseudo-axial positions and the nitroso group is coplanar with the C(2), N(1), C(7) plane of the central ring. The crystal structure is stabilized by intermolecular N-H...O and weak C-H...O hydrogen bonds.

Copper(I)-dppm complexes encapsulating the oxyanions ClO4-, NO3-, CH3C6H4CO2-, SO42-, and WO42- have been synthesized either by reduction of the corresponding Cu(II) salts and treatment with dppm, or by treating the complex [Cu-2(dppm)(2)(dmcn)(3)](BF4)(2) (1) (dmcn = dimethyl cyanamide) with the respective anion. The isolated complexes [Cu-2(dppm)(2)(dmcn)(2)(ClO4)] (ClO4) (2), [Cu-2(dppm)(2)(dmcn)(2)(NO3)] (NO3) (3), Cu-2(dppm)(2)(NO3)(2) (4), [Cu-2(dppm)(2)(CH3C6H4CO2)(2)]dmcn.2THF (5), Cu-2(dppm)(2)(SO4) (6), and [Cu-3(dppm)(3)(Cl)(WO4)] 0.5H(2)O (7) have been characterized by IR, H-1 and P-31{H-1} NMR, UV-vis, and emission spectroscopy. The solid-state molecular structure of complexes 1, 2, 4, and 7 were determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. Analyses of the crystallographic and spectroscopic data of these complexes reveal the nature of interactions between the Cu-I-dppm core and oxyanion. The anchoring of the oxyanion to the Cu-n(dppm)(n) unit is primarily through coordination to the metal, but the noncovalent C-H ... O interactions between the methylene and phenyl protons of the dppm and oxygen atoms of the oxyanion play a significant role. The solid-state emission spectra for complexes 1-6 are very similar but different from 7. In CDCl3 solution, addition of ClO4- or NO3- (as their tetrabutylammonium salts) to 1 establishes a rapid equilibrium between the anion-complexed and uncomplexed forms. The association constant values for ClO4- and NO3- have been estimated from the P-31{H-1} NMR spectra.

Two new open-framework iron fluorophosphates, [C(4)N(2)H(12)](0.5) [FeF(HPO(4))(H(2)PO(4))] (I) and [C(4)N(2)H(12)][Fe(4)F(2)(H(2)O)(4)(PO(4))(4)]. 0.5H(2)O (II), were synthesized hydrothermally using piperazine as a templating agent. The structures were determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. Compound I crystallizes in the orthorhombic space group Pbca, a = 7.2126(2) Angstrom, b = 14.2071(4) Angstrom, c = 17.1338(2) Angstrom, Z = 8. The structure is composed of infinite anionic chains of [FeF(HPO(4))(H(2)PO(4))](n)(-) built by trans-fluorine sharing FeF(2)O(4) octahedra. These chains are similar to those found in tancoite-type minerals. Compound II crystallizes in the monoclinic space group P2(1)/n, a = 9.9045(3) Angstrom, b = 12.3011(3) Angstrom, c = 17.3220(4) Angstrom, beta = 103.7010(10)degrees, Z = 4. The structure of compound II has a three-dimensional (3D) architecture with an eight-membered channel along the b axis, in which protonoted piperazine molecules reside. The complex framework is built from two types of secondary building unit (SBU): one hexamer [Fe(3)F(2)(H(2)O)(2)(PO(4))(3)] (SBU6), and one dimer [FeO(4)(H(2)O)(2)PO(4)] (SBU2). The vertex sharing between these SBUs create the 3D structure.

Oximato bridged dinuclear copper(II) complex Cu(L)(CH3OH)](2)(ClO4)(2) with an oxime-Schiff base ligand, viz. 3-2-(dimethylamino)ethyl]imino]-2-butanoneoxime (HL), has been synthesized and structurally characterized. The dinuclear copper(II) complex crystallizes in monoclinic space group P2(1)/n with the unit cell parameters, a = 13.3564(9) angstrom, b = 12.0821(8) angstrom, c = 17.5045(11) angstrom, beta = 90.097, V = 2824.8(3) angstrom(3), Z = 4, R = 0.0769. The complex shows quasi-reversible cyclic voltammetric response at 0.844V (Delta E-p = 276 mV) at 100 mVs(-1). The binding studies of the complex with calf thymus DNA has been investigated using absorption spectrophotometry. Cleavage activity of the complex has been carried out on double stranded pBR 322 plasmid DNA by using gel electrophoresis experiments in the absence and in the presence of the oxidant, viz., H2O2.

Pyridoxal kinase (PdxK; EC 2.7.1.35) belongs to the phosphotransferase family of enzymes and catalyzes the conversion of the three active forms of vitamin B-6, pyridoxine, pyridoxal and pyridoxamine, to their phosphorylated forms and thereby plays a key role in pyridoxal 5 `-phosphate salvage. In the present study, pyridoxal kinase from Salmonella typhimurium was cloned and overexpressed in Escherichia coli, purified using Ni-NTA affinity chromatography and crystallized. X-ray diffraction data were collected to 2.6 angstrom resolution at 100 K. The crystal belonged to the primitive orthorhombic space group P2(1)2(1)2(1), with unitcell parameters a = 65.11, b = 72.89, c = 107.52 angstrom. The data quality obtained by routine processing was poor owing to the presence of strong diffraction rings caused by a polycrystalline material of an unknown small molecule in all oscillation images. Excluding the reflections close to powder/polycrystalline rings provided data of sufficient quality for structure determination. A preliminary structure solution has been obtained by molecular replacement with the Phaser program in the CCP4 suite using E. coli pyridoxal kinase (PDB entry 2ddm) as the phasing model. Further refinement and analysis of the structure are likely to provide valuable insights into catalysis by pyridoxal kinases.

The stuffed fullerene-like nano clusters based on the approximately spherical B-84, (B-12@B-12@B-60, fragment of the beta-rhombohedral boron), are proposed using Wade's Rules and the criterion of overlap matching. Thus the fifty additional electrons required to make the B-84 skeleton electron sufficient, are provided by replacing 26 boron atoms by carbon atoms and 12 boron atoms by nitrogen atoms giving rise to C26B46N12. This particular combination has the added advantage of the fullerene surface made from C2B3N five-membered rings having less strain arising from the pyramidalization of the sp(2) hybridised trigonal planar carbon or nitrogen; the natural angle needed to have an optimum overlap is not far from the 31.7 degrees required for icosahedral symmetry. The advantage from overlap-matching can be further increased by capping the two pentagonal faces of the cluster by a Li atom each, keeping the electron count the same by replacing 12 carbon atoms with 12 boron atoms. DFT based computational results support these formulations.

The relative energies of triangular face sharing condensed macro polyhedral carboranes: CB20H18 and C2B19H18+ derived from mono- and di-substitution of carbons in (4) B21H18- is calculated at B3LYP/6-31G* level. The relative energies, H center dot center dot center dot H non-bonding distances, NICS values, topological charge analysis and orbital overlap compatibility connotes the face sharing condensed macro polyhedral mono-carboranes, 8 (4-CB20H18) to be the lowest energy isomer. The di-carba- derivative, (36) 4,4'a-C2B19H18+ with carbons substituted in a different B-12 cage in (4) B21H18- in anti-fashion is the most stable isomer among 28 possibilities. This structure has less non-bonding H center dot center dot center dot H interaction and is in agreement with orbital-overlap compatibility, and these two have the pivotal role in deciding the stability of these clusters. An estimate of the inherent stability of these carboranes is made using near-isodesmic equations which show that CB20H18 (8) is in the realm of the possible. (C) 2015 Elsevier B.V. 作为西部大开发的关键地区,西北干旱区由于地理位置和环境条件的独特性、生态系统的脆弱性以及人类活动的长期干扰,对其周边乃至全国的生态环境有较大的影响,在这一地区研究植物种分布与气候的关系,并模拟预测其可能的潜在分布范围,具有理论上和实践上的重要意义。 通过广泛收集了西北干旱区优势种和常见种的地理分布资料,共选择128个植物种,利用Holdridge的生命地带分类系统,计算各植物种的生物温度(BT)、可能蒸散(PE)、降水量(P)及可能蒸散率(PER),分析植物种与气候的相互关系,并将所有植物种进行经验归纳分类。随后,对这砦植物种及其气候信息进行TWINSPAN定量分类,并与经验分类结果相比较,得出西北干旱区128种植物的生态气候分类,分属于以下几大类型:高寒草甸、森林一草原过渡带、草原(典型草原、荒漠草原)、荒漠(草原化荒漠、荒漠、高寒荒漠)。具体来说,包括以下17个生态气候类型: 1)高寒草甸:异针茅。 2)森林一草原过渡带:牛尾蒿、鬼箭锦鸡儿、沙棘。 3)草原a:沙蒿。 4)草原b:长芒草、百里香(变种)、多叶隐子草、贝加尔针茅、大针茅。 5)草原c:羊茅、小叶锦鸡儿、荒漠锦鸡儿、线叶菊、华北岩黄芪、廿青针茅、碱蒿、内蒙古沙蒿、裂叶蒿、狭叶锦鸡儿、山竹岩黄芪、女蒿、小蓬、两伯利亚杏、沙地柏、角果碱篷、霸王、糙隐子草。 6)草原d:紫狐茅、紫花针茅。 7)草原一荒漠草原a:包括沙竹、琵琶柴、吉尔吉斯针茅。 8)草原一荒漠草原b:华北米蒿、差巴嘎蒿、星星草、长芒针茅、铁竿蒿、柠条锦鸡儿。 9)荒漠草原:沙生冰草、蒙古冰草、羊草、冷蒿、中亚紫菀木、刺旋花、老瓜头、木贼麻黄、西伯利亚白刺、唐古特白刺、戈壁针茅、石生针茅、盐地碱蓬、冰草、蓍状亚菊、油蒿、木蓼、刺针枝蓼、长枝木蓼、中间锦鸡儿、尖叶盐爪爪、黄花琵琶柴、松叶猪毛菜、珍珠猪毛菜、东方针茅、囊果碱蓬、四合木、白滨藜、短脚锦鸡儿。 10)草原化荒漠,荒漠a:川青锦鸡儿、优若藜、苦艾蒿、无芒隐子草、沙冬青、籽蒿、地白蒿、菭草、齿叶白刺、绵刺、盐角草、多枝柽柳、盐生假木贼。 11)草原化荒漠.荒漠b:蒿叶猪毛菜、短花针茅、芨芨草、灌木亚菊、博乐蒿、小蒿、喀什蒿、南山短花菊、盐爪爪、木本猪毛菜、针茅、细枝盐爪爪。 12)草原化荒漠.荒漠c:白梭梭、白羊草、无叶假木贼。 13)干旱荒漠a:戈壁短花菊、荒漠细柄茅、刺蓬、沙生针茅、多花柽柳、细枝柽柳。 14)干旱荒漠b:梭梭柴、铃铛刺、天山猪毛菜、帕米尔麻黄、座花针茅、旱蒿、克氏狐茅、短叶假木贼、准格尔沙蒿、长穗柽柳、刚毛柽柳。 15)高寒荒漠植被:匍生优若藜。 16)干旱荒漠c:粉花蒿、白杆沙拐枣、膜果麻黄、花花柴、灌木紫菀木、裸果木、合头草、塔里木沙拐枣。 17)超干旱荒漠植被:沙拐枣、胡杨、盐穗木、灰杨、盐节木、圆叶盐爪爪。 综合分类结果表明:多数植物种的生态气候类型与实际生境相符,但也有少数植物种有明显偏差,主要原因有三点:首先,某些种的分布范围超出了西北干旱区,在东北、华北、甚至全国范围内分布,所计算的植物种的气候范围本身存在局限性;其次,西北干旱区的研究资料如植物种的分布范围、分布点的气象资料等有许多缺失:最后,由于文献中对某些植物种分布范围的描述比较笼统,无法确定其精确的地理分布界限,使得植物种所对应的分类结果与其真正所属的植 被类型有一些偏差。 本文还进一步在这128种植物中选取了10种分布明确、资料齐备的代表性植被类型的优势种,根据它们的降水和生物温度指标,模拟预测了它们的可能潜在分布区,包括其主要中心分布区和最大可能分布区,并与实际分布范围进行比较。结果表明.其潜在分布区的分布范围与实际调查所得资料所处范围基本一致,特别是中心分布区的预测图,而最大可能分布区与实际有一定误差。

The object of this study was to determine the value of physical, bacteriological and chemical tests used to find out and compare the indices of quality of prawns stored at 0°C and at 18°C. pH value, nature of drip, the total bacterial count, presence or absence of tryptophan, trimethylamine content, glycogen, lactic acid, vitamins such as thiamin, riboflavin and niacin were estimated periodically to evaluate the quality of prawns stored at 0°C, whereas in addition to organoleptic changes, pH, bacterial count, nature of growth in peptone water, soluble protein in salt solution and loss of moisture, glycogen, lactic acid, and changes in vitamin B contents were noted periodically for prawns stored at -l8°C. Riboflavin and niacin were not affected appreciably but the retention of thiamin in prawns was very low.
