Rhizospheric streptomycetes as potential biocontrol agents of Fusarium and Armillaria pine rot and as PGPR for Pinus taeda

Pinus taeda is one of the main timber trees in Brazil, occupying 1.8 million ha with an annual productivity of 25-30 m(3) ha(-1). Another important species is Araucaria angustifolia, belonging to the fragile Rainforest biome, which for decades has been a major source of timber in Brazil. Some diseases that affect the roots and/or the stem of these trees and cause "damping-off" of the seedlings, with economic and environmental losses for the forest sector, are caused by the plant pathogenic fungi Fusarium sp. or Armillaria sp. This research project intended to isolate actinobacteria from the Araucaria rhizosphere, which present an antagonistic effect against these fungi. After the selection of the best pathogen inhibitors, morphologic characteristics, enzyme production, and their effect on the growth of Pinus taeda were studied. The actinobacteria were tested for their antagonistic capacity against Fusarium sp. in Petri plates with PDA as substrate. The inhibition zone was measured after 3, 5, 7, and 10 days. Of all the isolates tested, only two of them maintained inhibition zones up to 4 mm for 10 days. The inhibition of Armillaria sp. was tested in liquid medium and also in Petri dishes through the evaluation of the number of the fungal rhizomorphs in dual culture with the actinobacteria. It was found that all five isolates were able to inhibit the rhizomorph production, with the best performance of the isolate A43, which was capable of inhibiting both fungi, Fusarium and Armillaria. In a greenhouse experiment, the effect of five isolates on the growth of Pinus taeda seedlings was tested. Plant height, stem diameter, root and shoot dry matter were determined. The Streptomyces isolate A43 doubled plant growth. These results may lead to the development of new technologies in the identification of still unknown bacterial metabolites and new management techniques to control forest plant diseases.

Sistemas técnicos agrícolas e cafeicultura científica globalizada no sul de Minas Gerais

The study aims to analyze the mechanization of the main coffee growing region in the south of Minas Gerais, in force, especially from the 1970s. But you get new content from the1990s, with the introduction of new information technologies. The use of machines in production processes appear as one of the great transformations of coffee in the period modern after globalization, requiring a labor more specialized, although resulting in unemployment in rural areas. So in the period of globalization new technologies gradually replace manual work. In the coffee farm, the old ways of the production (that handed down from father to son) aren't accepted by the global scientific agriculture (Santos, 2000:88). They are considered inefficient and low quality, but not attendant of patterns the international market. The national companies producing agricultural machines for coffee with emphasis on the company Pinhalense Agricultural Machinery SA believe that the producers of the region are its biggest customers in the country, considering the degree of mechanization more pronounced compared to other coffee growing regions. A internet como ferramenta de mediação no acervo artístico-cultural dos Palácios do Governo do Estado de São Paulo

This research focuses on methods and strategies for educational-based digital tools, aimed at the public school. Thus, we present possibilities, and the main actions of the national museum institutions in several online educational services that exemplify some forms of virtual mediation in order to verify the relevance of using these tools. The study discusses the need for museums to follow the advance of new technologies to engage and retain the public school, consisting of a highly connected generation with new technologies. It also brings a brief overview of the evolution of the museum in the Western world and presents the formation and nature of art collections that comprise the Artistic-Cultural Collection of the Governmental Palaces of the State of São Paulo, focusing on the management policy of each period, highlighting the educational program and the relationship with the website. As a practical exercise, the research presented suggests applying a form of mediation for the virtual site of Artistic-Cultural Collection of the Governmental Palaces to extend relations sector educational institution for the virtual context

A matemática no ciberespaço: um olhar fenomenológico para a expressão dos sujeitos

With the implementation of new technologies on the world stage of communication, Internet access has become increasingly numerous. Being sought by this means all kinds of information, from knowledge to entertainment. This paper intends to report the experience in two communities of the Internet, particularly in the social network Orkut, entitled I Hate Mathematics and I Love Mathematics, whose members are students, teachers and people who want to express how they feel about mathematics. The goal is to understand what took the members of these communities to hate or love Mathematics, clarifying the nature of the network Orkut and its contribution to mathematics education. For the analysis of data from field work, we use the phenomenological approach. The procedures followed by such approach allowed us to build four open categories: Research and Background, revealing that the research activities allow students to develop strategies, develop creativity and shows that what is learned in classroom is not just an accumulation of knowledge; Teacher's Role shows that it is necessary that the teacher understands the meaning of being a teacher and worry about being a student; Acquisition Technique, it is necessary that students be able to understand what is done and how it is done, and Sense of What is Done, to do is not directly linked to comprehend. The interpretation of these categories helped us understand the investigated giving us source to analyze how Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) can help the teacher understand the student's relationship with Mathematics

O artista plástico e seus públicos na perspectiva da assessoria de relações públicas

This work aims to study and see the importance of building the image and reputation of the artist through a publishing of public relations, public recital, new technologies, media, cultural production and curatorial work. To this, we analyzed the history of the profession of public relations in Brazil. As well as their concepts, practices and definitions. Focus on work of publicist and cultural production sectors. The choice of theme is done by the need to understand the relationships. That intertwines in the art market and what media that best reaches in their audiences. Considering the artist-consumer relationship, and the relationship brand-artist and artist-public. This project aims to study and verify the importance of effective communication in contemporary organizations, considering current factors such as globalization, new technologies and market competition that make companies be always updated. The choice of the theme is due to the necessity to know that it is important to have an integrated communication between the employees and the customers, so that the established functions in the organizations occur positively. In this context, we present the concept of management, communication and organizational culture, focusing on the integration of business communication. The importance of the employee was also a focus of the study, involving the positioning of organizations. In this context, the case study is placed, considering that companies are characterized by carefully reading the feedback and reformulating the communication, making it effective as “Grendene” has done. Influência da luz LED na cultura celular de Mieloma múltiplo murino–NS1 in vitro

A monoclonal antibody (mAb) is an important tool in medical biotechnology and the production of biopharmaceuticals, especially for disease diagnosis and treatment of infections, because the antibodies have a significant advantage over chemical agents used in conventional therapies . The last thirty years the technology of production of monoclonal antibodies developed mainly the technique of obtaining in vitro, but also of their production is laborious, the cost is high. A major element of the high cost of production is the fact that the long-term culture consumes a large amount of imported inputs with high added value. A major contribution of this work is to promote cell growth more quickly and efficiently. Currently, a great race to discover new technologies and techniques to synthesize new antibodies and significantly increase the production of murine mAbs. New technologies such as laser and LED are innovations and widespread in modern life, so much so that its use has proliferated worldwide, primarily in the medical field. Recent studies show a series of results from the influence of the LED light in biological tissues such as: increasing the rate of cell proliferation, increased production rate of fibroblasts, increasing the rate of synthesis of RNA and DNA synthesis of ATP, etc. To assess the contribution of the LED in the culture of Myeloma NS1murino compared to the standard procedure. - NS1 cells were provided and followed the criteria of culture medium of the Laboratory of Cellular Engineering Center of Botucatu (POPs). The same amount of cells was grown in bottles of 25 cm2 polystyrene Tissue Culture Treated, specifically marked and kept in special medium RPMI 1640 Gibco BRL  supplemented with fetal bovine serum 10%, essential amino acids and non-essential, glucose, insulin and antibiotics. Falência renal aguda em pequenos animais

The pets, mostly dogs and cats are susceptible to a variety of situations that can lead to acute kidney failure, such as infection and intoxication, besides other common causes such as dehydration or other pre-existing diseases. The abrupt decrease in renal function in these animals characterizes a severe clinical condition and requires specialized veterinary medical care since it increases the death. Early diagnosis is an important factor for the survival of these animals and so is the appropriate treatment. New technologies on diagnosis and treatment of serious diseases in veterinary medicine have made acute renal failure successfully reversed by hemodialysis in cases where conventional therapy may not be effective. In cases like that, hemodialysis treatment may be the only chance of survival for the animals, which makes this therapy more and more important and necessary, especially in referral centers of veterinary assistance

Considerações gerais sobre os resíduos eletrônicos

As new technologies improve, people’s lives gain in comfort and accessibility. However, along with these technologies comes a growth in “soon to fall into disuse” product consume, either because they have reached the end of their life cycle, or because they were substituted by newer and more advanced models. These electronic wastes are still with no certain destination, and could be donated to welfare companies, but the majority is thrown in wide open dumping grounds or landfills, where they can contaminate water and soil with their toxic components. This work seeks to evaluate the e-waste concept, their impacts in the environment and human life, as well as the current national and international e-waste management and destination, finally reflecting on international decisions that would be appropriate for the Brazilian system.

Avaliação experimental de medidas de aceleração

Acceleration is a key parameter for engineering and is becoming increasingly important because of the need for companies to become more competitive in the market. Both applying new technologies to their products and optimizing their process lines with predictive maintenance and robotic automation. This study aims to analyze the quality of the signals obtained from a capacitive accelerometer. To do that a test rig was mounted, which consist of a shaker, fed by a signal generator, a linear potentiometer and a capacitive accelerometer; for the signal acquisition was used a acquisition board and the Labview software, in order to integrate twice the signal from the accelerometer and compare it with the sign of the potentiometer. This work also demonstrates the impact of acquired signal processing as well as techniques of pre and post processing of signal via software GNU/Octave
