The relationships between behavior problems and children social skills, such as the relevance of analysing these sides by report instruments had been emphasized in researches. It aims: a) to verify the components concerning to behavior problems and children social skills, which was identified through a undirected report instrument; b) to analyze the correlation of such indicators with ones detected by a directed report instrument and those ones referred in bibliography. The participants were 213 primary health carers of children in pre-school age (n = 114) and school age ones (n = 98). The results show that undirected and directed instruments are complementary to obtain informations. Besides, the combination of assessment modalities adds to the characterization of the behavioral repertoire.

This study aimed to compare, from the verbal report, educational practices of regular and special teacher in relation to children's behavior, concerning groups differentiated by reference indication of behavior problems in the classroom by the teacher and sex of the children. This study surveyed fifteen teachers and twenty-eight students (6-9 years), who were grouped in regular teaching (n = 18, kindergarten, elementary) and especial teaching (n = 10). The assessment with teachers was proceeded by using a questionnaire (Q-RSH-Pr) and a semi-structured interview (RE-HSE-Pr). We observed that there is a significant difference: boys as well as children with behavior problems presented more difficulties than others. Their teachers revealed that they use more negative

The blue-fronted parrot (Amazona aestiva) belongs to the order Psittaciformes and family Pscittacidae. It is widely held as a pet because of its peculiar characteristics. The owners of such animals, however, frequently report behavioral problems. The absence of proper environmental stimuli generated by confinement and lack of social engagement can predispose these animals to characteristic behaviors related to stress, which can be manifested as a feather plucking syndrome. The present study reports the case of a blue-fronted Amazon parrot with a two-year history of feather plucking. The psychosomatic disease was halted once the animal created an emotional bond with a human being. This finding reinforces the social nature of this species and raises questions about the welfare of captive birds of this order.

Periodontal disease has been increasingly associated as a supporting factor, and even a precursor to some systemic diseases. Just aim of this paper was to analyze by reviewing the literature, the possible mechanisms involved in the etiopathogenesis of periodontal disease that are common to the current systemic diseases such as obesity, atherosclerosis, diabetes and rheumatoid arthritis. The articles were analyzed with in the publication period of the years 2006 to 2011 and were surveyed in the databases PubMed, LILACS and SciELO. Of a total of 907 articles found by searching the indices and their associations, were selected by inclusion criteria 93 articles. For the preparation of this literature review, only 24 articles were selected because they are based on inflammatory mechanisms, metabolic and infectious, where the considerations for the strongest associations in the literature. This literature review reinforces the association of periodontal disease with systemic diseases analyzed due to presence of inflammatory and immunological mechanisms and similar synergism betwen the two diseases, but some hypotheses still need further clarification. The professional should stick to recent discoveries associations to promote periodontal treatment in preventing the development of systemic diseases, as well as in maintaining the systemic health of patients already suffering from chronic systemic diseases.
