Introduction: The training of nursing students in the context of clinical practice, is characterized by educational experiences, subject to various emotional stress (stress, ambivalence, frustration, conflict), sometimes making it very vulnerable student. However not all students use the same strategies minimizing their meanings and negative effects on the level of your health and well-being Objetiv:To analyze the perception that nursing students have about the determinants of their health status and well-being in clinical practice Methods: Exploratory research Results:The results reveal the complexity of the teaching / learning process in clinical practice, identified determinants that limit and / or promote health and well-being of students, or not contributing to their motivation, self-confidence and learning. All students value the presence of the following dimensions: affective-emotional (humanization in learning experiences); relational dynamics (interactions developed with all stakeholders); methods used (professional competence of the clinical supervisor and teacher); school curriculum (adaptation of learning in theory); socialization to the profession (become nurse). Conclusions: The results indicate, that although all students evidencing the dimensions described as fundamental to learning in clinical practice, the study results are dichotomous and ambivalent. Students 2nd and 3ºanos refer a low perception in clinical practice, the indicated dimensions, and for these source of concern and uncertainty in learning, such as limiting their health condition and well-being. For students of the 4th year, these dimensions are percecionadas as gifts, and sources of motivation, learning and catalysts such as promoting their health and well-being.

The practical knowledge has characteristics of a process with peculiar idiosyncrasies that require disruption with preconceived ideas, dialogue, negotiation and joint action. The knowledge underlying remains unclear despite of being what informs decision making. It is academia’s responsibility to unveil and nominate knowledge and that is the reason why we conducted two studies with clinical nurses. The aim is to understand the social representation that nurses make of their knowledge about nursing and analyze their clinical practices. In one of the studies, based on the theoretical-methodological referential of social representations, we used the technique of free association of words with the stimulus “knowledge in nursing”. In another study, developed within a naturalistic context and under the “Grounded Theory” referential, we used non-participative observation and explanatory interviews. From the first study we identified the structure of social representations of knowledge in nursing, from which emerged the central core constituted by four elements (Investigation, Wisdom, help Relation, Competence) and a second periphery with one element (Reflection). With the second study we identified that decisions are made within a dynamic, systematic and continuous process of diagnostic evaluation and clinical intervention using the various types of knowledge (e.g. clinic, experiential, scientific, personal). We concluded that the various types of knowledge in nursing, represented by the expressions mentioned above, are systematically and creatively mobilized within the dynamic process of diagnostic evaluation and clinical intervention. It is therefore important to unveil and nominate the different knowledge implicit in the clinical practice and Academia should be responsible for that task.

UNVEILING PROFESSIONAL KNOWLEDGES: A SCOPE OF HIGHER EDUCATION The practical knowledge has characteristics of a process with peculiar idiosyncrasies that require disruption with preconceived ideas, dialogue, negotiation and joint action. Based on concepts of psychiatric mental health nursing, family, conceptual models of family assessment and intervention and home care; we tried to understand what kind of family approach emerges from the nursing notes, as well as identify what interventions are directed to patients and families in a systemic perspective. Although without clear identification of the conceptual models existents, we realise that attention giving to families, exists, without doubted, with frequent relationships assessments, interaction patterns, supports and resources, however with the need to improve in a more grounded, systematic and discerning way and clearly documented.
