A relação entre as famílias e os adultos institucionalizados: um projeto no centro de dia “O Pontão”

A presente investigação desenvolveu-se no concelho de Tavira na Associação de Solidariedade Social da Conceição de Tavira - “O Pontão”, mais concretamente no Centro de Dia. Tendo em conta que um dos malefícios da institucionalização das pessoas mais velhas é a quebra das redes sociais e, por conseguinte, a desresponsabilização familiar, pretendeu-se levar a cabo um projeto de intervenção que pudesse incidir sobre a problemática da desresponsabilização familiar. Neste sentido, esta investigação teve como objetivo principal promover uma melhor relação entre os idosos, as suas famílias e a instituição. Para tal, foi necessário compreender as dinâmicas familiares e, por conseguinte, os fatores que estão envolvidos na forma como a família apoia, ou não, os seus idosos em contexto familiar e institucional. Assim sendo, considerou-se a Investigação-Ação como a opção metodológica mais viável, uma vez que permitiu investigar e agir sobre o contexto em estudo. Esta investigação resulta num 1º ciclo de investigação-ação, no qual através do recurso a várias técnicas de recolha de informação foi possível: conhecer o contexto em análise; compreender a forma como os idosos e as suas famílias de relacionam; testar e aplicar práticas e políticas institucionais, com a finalidade de melhorar a ação da instituição junto dos idosos de forma a potenciar um relacionamento saudável e harmonioso entre Idosos- Família - Instituição.

The present research was developed in Tavira in the Social Solidarity Association of Conceição de Tavira - "O Pontão", specifically in the day care center. One of the evils of institutionalization of old people is the breaking of social networks, and consequently the familiar disclaimer, it was intended to carry out an intervention project that would focus on the issue of family disclaimer. This research aimed to promote a better relationship between the elderly, their families and the institution. To do this it was necessary to understand the family dynamics and therefore the factors that are involved in how family support, or not, their elderly not only in the family context, as in the institution. It was considered a Research-Action as the most viable methodological option, as allowed investigate and act on the context under study. This research results in a 1st action-research cycle, in which through the use of multiple data collection techniques was possible: to know the context in question; understand how the elderly and their families relate; testing and applying practices and institutional policies, with the purpose of improve the action of the institution with the elderly in order to maximize a healthy and harmonious relationship between the Seniors - Family - Institution.
