Universidade aberta à terceira idade da Universidade do Sagrado Coração (UATI/USC): estudo de caso

Ao mesmo tempo em que o contingente de idosos aumenta no Brasil, ganham força os estudos sobre envelhecimento em novos moldes. Consagra-se com rapidez a expressão terceira idade, justificando esta nova sensibilidade em relação à velhice, considerando-a momento privilegiado da vida. O objetivo do presente estudo foi um estudo de caso com os participantes da UATI/USC, saber como vivem a atual fase da vida e como interagem. Os dados foram obtidos através de entrevistas semi-estruturadas e de análise de perguntas fechadas realizada através do Programa Epi-Info versão 6.0. As perguntas abertas foram gravadas e transcritas na seqüência, o que permitiu detectar os núcleos principais de pensamento, sentimentos e opiniões. Os resultados encontrados mostram que o perfil do aluno da UATI/USC é de um idoso do sexo feminino; proveniente de bairros ao entorno da USC; com alto nível de escolaridade; alto poder aquisitivo; classificado como muito ativo fisicamente; satisfeito com a vida; interessado em aprender, evoluir, conhecer e utilizar as novas tecnologias. Quanto ao docente, é de um profissional que valoriza a velhice, acha que aprende muito com a maturidade do idoso, respeita e acredita nas reais capacidades desse aluno. De seu lado, a Instituição percebe a força de sua proposta de UATI e faz o melhor para seus alunos.

At the same time when the elderly contingent grows in Brazil, the studies about growing old in new patterns has succeeded. The expression “Third age” has consacrated quickly, justifying this new sensibility about the elderly and considering it a privileged moment of life. The objective of the present study is a case study with the UATI/USC participants, observing how these elderly people live this present time of their lives and how they interact with it. These datas were obtained throw semi-structured interviews and also throw the closed questions analysis from the Epi–Info 6.0. program. The open questions were recorded and written in the sequence, what permited us detect the main thought, feelings and opinion nucleus detection. The found results show that the UATI/USC student outline is a female elderly, living near the University, who has a high school level, high acquisitive power, classified as a very active person, seen as satisfied with life person, interested in learning, growing and using new technologies. As to the professor, it’s a professional who values, respects and believes in the students capacity and she knows she has learned a lot by the elderly maturity. The instituition itself realizes the power of its UATI proposal and does its best for its students.
