Serial experiments lain's body: o corpo enquanto fronteira entre o físico e o virtual

Dissertação apresentada à Escola Superior de Comunicação Social como parte dos requisitos para obtenção de grau de mestre em Audiovisual e Multimédia.

Serial Experiments Lain coloca como ponto de discussão os limites da realidade com a existência da Wired, rede virtual onde se podem trocar informações, entrar em contacto com outros e até mesmo criar um Eu virtual. Em termos narrativos e audiovisuais analisamos, ao longo da série, como se desenvolve a relação entre as duas realidades, sendo o Corpo o intermédio dessa relação. Lança-se um olhar sobre a evolução do Corpo dentro da série anime em causa, pondo em questão de que forma este define uma fronteira entre o mundo físico em que habitamos e o mundo virtual que criámos, a partir duma análise dividida em três partes – análise geral, análise da personagem principal e análise dos momentos discursivos relativos ao corpo. Como se define a fronteira do Corpo na coexistência das realidades física e virtual no anime Serial Experiments Lain?

ABSTRACT: Serial Experiments Lain poses as a point of discussion the limits of reality with the existence of the Wired, a virtual network where information can be traded, people can connect with each other and even create a virtual Self. In narrative and audiovisual terms we analyse, throughout the series, how the relation between the two realities evolves, being the Body the medium of that relation. We look upon the evolution of the Body within the series, questioning how does this defines a border between the physical world where we live and the virtual world we have created, using an analyses divided in three – general analysis, main character analysis and the analysis of the discursive moments concerning the body. How is defined the barrier of the Body in the coexistence of the virtual world and the physical world in the anime Serial Experiments Lain?
